Sinyan and I were talking about the possibility of going for Lasik and we realised we have the same tricky and unfortunate problem of suffering from astigmatism. I knew there is this chinese phrase that describes poor souls being caught in the same sad situation but I just couldn't remember it except that the phrase has 人 somewhere. So after a minute or so I gave up and typed 苦命人 which sounded weird.

And then The Brainy One enlightened me: it's 同是天涯沦落人
